22 Jump Street - Preview

When you think of the hit film in 2012, 21 Jump Street, what comes to mind? Do you think of two cops taking a funnier rendition of speed? Or is your mind filled with the memory of childish adults chucking explosive tequila and blowing up a garage? Whatever you think of when 21 jump street is floating about in your head it will undoubtedly be ludicrous, comical and spectacularly hilarious.

This is why when I heard about the sequel, 22 Jump Street I was both ecstatic and sceptical. Obviously I am excited as I loved the original and I’ve watched it over 12 times now; still not boring! I love Jonah and Channing in these films; they are both great actors and play the parts well.

I suppose I am still slightly dubious, as are many fans I think, as to what new things can this sequel bring? We have already had so much comedy and joy from the original. The plot to 22 Jump Street is very simple; 2 cops go undercover again to infiltrate a crime ring in a college; this sounds very similar to the first film. However, it does then go on to state that the film will illustrate the relationship between Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) in more depth. In the end they must figure out if they can have a mature relationship like ‘real men’. This, I think, is the part of the film that is much different. Instead of the film being all action and humour, it is depicting the emotional areas much more clearly and fashioning the film to centre predominately on that.

I am looking forward to seeing how this film turns out. It will be released June 13th 2014.
