He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Reboot!

Masters of the Universe will be finding its way back in to our lives in 2015(possibly 2016 or later). DreamWorks Animate acquired the rights to many of the shows we loved as a kid, including Voltron, Rocky and Bulwinkle, and of course Masters of the Universe.

Terry Rossio(National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lone Ranger) looks to be on board for writing the script for Masters of the Universe. Jon M. Chu, who was originally set to be the director for MotU back in March of 2013, has reportedly left the project and will not be directing. Currently the project is without a director.

Masters of the Universe will be in 3D when released, rumor has it that Channing Tatum will play He-Man in the reboot, however since that rumor had been started, with the drop off of Chu, Tatum has fallen off the He-Map as well. As of now, there is no cast, not even a rumor.

So what’s the plot looking like? A press release from April of 2013 says that the story will be about Prince Adam(He-Man eventually), who is sent off into the wastelands after Skeletor, the advisor to the king of Eternia, overthrows King Randor. He-man(I don’t like calling him Prince Adam), his sister Adora, mentor Duncan, and Teela set out on a journey to defeat Skeletor, after meeting with a mythical sorceress who explains the power of Castle Greyskull.

I was a He-Man fan growing up. I’m hoping that this will come to light before I no longer have the power to get to the theater.
